What is Humana? Is that some type of insurance? In any event, most insurance companies will cover all doctor visits, blood/urine tests, ultrasounds, co-pays and all hospitalization costs ONCE they are notified by the doctor's office of your expected due date. You really have to check with your insurance. The only thing I paid for was $15 co-pays for lab fees each time I had blood tests done. I don't remember how many times I paid this but it was probably about 5 times.

Depends upon the plan you have. My last 2 pregnancies I had an HMO. I paid 1 $10 co-pay and nothing else. I now have a PPO and while I've only paid the $20 co-pay once I pay a portion of some of the tests and I'm sure will have some type of hosptial stay bill. All depends upon the plan.

It would depend on your insurance, and I'm not familiar with Humana. I have excellent insurance through my employer (cigna) and didn't pay a penny for a single doctor's visit, although I've heard of some copays as high as $30 a visit. Check with your insurance too, mine had a healthy babies program that also reimbursed for lama's classes, lactation consultant, and a breast pump. The only thing was my prenatal vitamins, they were $40 a month, with insurance!

Well, nothing during the pregnancy. The OB/GYN doesn't collect until after the baby is born. With my insurance (Great West at the time) my hospital bill was $1,500. I had to have an emergency c-section at 29 weeks. My son's one day in the NICU in the hospital where he was born (He was transfered to Children's Hospital the next day) was also$1,500. My OB/GYN's bill was $800. Our share of what we could have had to pay for his stay at Children's Hospital would have been over $24,000. Our insurance paid 90%. His total hospital bill before coming home was around $249,000.

Just wanted to add that the $1,500 each was our portion after the insurance paid.

It all really depends on what kind of insurance and state programs you have. Some pick up every cost, some just part. I think I read online that just for delivery (hospital stay and all) with out insurance the cost is something like $6,000 with out c-section for a normal delivery! YIKES! I know that there are state programs where I am where you don't have to pay a penny of any insurance costs.

Well a normal birth with a normal baby will be a couple of thousand plus all the Doctor visits. However any complications will move that up to $10,000 easy. However your insurance has a deductible and an out of pocket limit so more than likely $1,000 is your max out of pocket.

Does your Humana health insurance include maternity insurance? We have humana ppo with maternity and it is going to cost us about $500 altogether, birth and all as long as it's a vaginal delivery. C-sections cost a little more...and if it's a boy and you want to have him circumcised you may have to pay for that as well.

Not sure what humana is, but if it is an insurance plan, usually you pay for the initial visit when they confirm pregnancy and your due date.. then the rest of your pre-natal appointments are no charge.. call the insurance company and check with them.

Total my insurance was billed 35,678 and was billed for my baby 254,700! But i had a very rough and very complicated pregnancy that resulted in a premature baby. So each situation is different, a normal pregnancy would be much less than a complicated preterm one.

I have Humana as well. I've been with them since their existence. I paid a one-time co-payment of $25 to my OBG/GYN and not a penny more.
