As someone who gets trapped by her own negative thinking way too easiliy, I know what you mean. The most important thing is to never lose sight of the beautiful and meaningful activities in life. Here a few of the things I do or think about when I feel extremely low as well:
1) Excersise. I feel better when I am in better shape, and it is a good way to get the body's endorphines going (a natural mood enhanser :-))
2) Read a good book. A topic that makes you happy, perhaps a comedy or something escapist like fantacy. It's always a mood elivator for me.
3) Call a friend or go out with them and have a silley conversation. Don't talk about anything too serious, just call to laugh and joke. If you need to, send some time gripping, but put on cap on how long you two will do this.
4) Watch a comedy. Alterately, and this sounds terrible but it helps, I read a depressing book or watch a depressing movie because it makes me realise how many blessings I have in life.
5) Find a religion/sprituality that is meaningful to you and participate in it (this does not always have to mean going to church or other organized religion, if that's not your thing). Although there is no absolute proof that God exsists, it is a good way to remind yourself that it is very possible there is more out there and your life could have a purpose you just don't see yet for when you are feeling depressed and are about to lose hope.
6) Don't expect everything out of yourself. You cannot be everything to everyone. You can only be you. Take time to realise who that is, and learn to accept the fact that you cannot please everyone you know. Everyone is bad at somethings, and good at others. No one sucks at everything, and I dont' think you are terrible at everything. Find some strengths and roll with it.
Finally, if you honestly have thoughts of suicide, and think you would go through with it for sure, find a therapist right away. Talk to your school guidence couselor, reasearch community resources, anything. We all get upset, and I myself out of frustration have sworn that I would kill myself. However, I deep down realize I would never go through with it. It is just mere frustration. If you think you might take you own life, please talk to a terapist before anything drastic happens.
I hope some of this helps, and remember that you have strengths, your just too frusterated to see them, I think. Try some of the ways of calming down, and then evaluate yourself after you've calmed down. Good luck.

Start by taking a deep breath... enjoy breathing... try this in a park or green space, with some flowing water. Stop and look around... enjoy Creation. Listen for birds, smell flowers. Learn to appreciate some quiet time and space. Seek it out. Daily, or weekly.
Next, let the world expect whatever they want, but you control how much you meet their expectations... you don't have to live up to anyone's expectations if you don't want to... you'd go crazy trying to please everybody all the time... it can't be done.
Learn to think "so what?" So what if you get a question wrong?... so what if it's not fast enough? So what if you don't become the President or Prime Minister. So what if you take a year off to relax and find some peace?
Pick one being to please... choose God, choose yourself, or choose a loved one - whatever best matches your beliefs.... and then, seek to please just that one person.
And hey, I strongly recommend Dr Phil's book, "Self Matters". I'm sure it's in the nearest library.
You're in my prayers.
David.

Resolve to hang in there.
Just because you are unhappy and feel like one of "life's losers" right now doesn't mean you will always be. Life has strange twists to it and someday you might win the lotto, marry a millionaire or patent a product or invention worth millions of dollars.
School is important but not doing well in school is not the end of the world. About 90% of the education people receive in their lives actually comes from sources outside of school such as college, radio, television, reading good books, self-tutoring, travel, talking to educated people etc.
Also, the uneducated have often shown an uncanny ability to make money and sometimes end up earning more money than people with MD's and PHD's. There are many celebrities, pop stars, wealthy entrepreneurs and politicians who come from this kind of background if you read their biographies.
Although it's still a somewhat cruel and competitive world that we live in, life is a lot better now than it was 2,000 years ago when animals and gladiators were getting slaughtered by the thousands in the Roman arenas and barbarian tribesmen where sacrificing slaves to Nerthus and clubbing their wives over the head at the drop of a pin.
I think it also helps to have a "philosphy of life" as you navigate through your life. Try to find as many sayings and quotations by wise people as you can and try to live by them.
One of them I like is "People create their own problems." Another is one by Eleanor Roosevelt: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
Find ones that you like, believe in them and live by them! I started doing it myself in high school when I was going through my rocky teen years. They helped me. I'm sure you'll eventually find that they make a difference for you too..

Life is a game, it doesn't have to be dreadfully serious. And like any game it is made of freedoms, barriers and purposes.
Like in any game, there can be times (even a lot of times) when you are doing badly. The best thing to do is work out your purpose(s) and work towards it. Bad things will still happen, but if you keep working towards it things will generally improve.

life is always going to be tough, thats why u have to find joy in as many of the little things as you can.. and if ithat is really hard for you to do then u should probably talk to a psychiatrist and perhaps try prescription medication, more people than u probably realize are on anti-depressants nowadays, theres no shame at all in it.. depression is an illness, trust me, ive been there.

well, it kinda sounds like you need to chill out (i mean that in the nicest possible way!!).. you seem really worked up, and frustrated.. first of all, it doesnt matter what people think of you (if they even do think stuff about you)... you just gotta worrry about what youre doing, and nothing else.. if you're crap at something, it doesnt matter!!.. just pick yourself up and try again.. thats all you can do.. if it really means something to you, thats even more reason to not give up. and when you do get it.. it'll be that much more satisfying!! so just focus on the positives man!!
eventually things wont seem so depressing.. trust me. hope i've helped!!

why do you hate yourself..?
do you really hate yourself or do you hate other people for misunderstanding you..?
they might not know who you really are or what you really are, but does that mean you yourself won't appreciate who you are..?
you're thinking too much... just as you said, you are still young... why worry so much..?
and, why are you so worried that you might be wrong when you answer..? are you expecting yourself to be right all the time..?
take the time to really listen to the people who are saying you're too hard on yourself... reconsider their points as to why they said that...
and, just because you always say nice things to other people, that doesn't necessarily follow that you are optimistic... it's not about what you say, it's about how you really look at things...
suicide..? we're all gonna die sometime, what's the rush..?
