In order starting with best:
1. Disney World in Florida
2. Hershey Park in Hershey, PA (great place for kids and adults and you get to find out how chocolate is made on top of all the fun!)
3. Sesame Place in PA (This is a great place to take young kids because EVERYTHING is geared towards them! Go in the summer time though because the majority of the rides are water rides)
4. Kings Dominion in Doswel, VA
5. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA (a trip to Williamsburg can be very fun and educational!!)
I hope this list helps!!

I'm in Virginia, and we've got two amusement parks within an hour and a half from each other.
In Doswell (close to Richmond), we have Kings Dominion. It's a nice park, it's run by Cedar Fair who owns Cedar Point. They have an area that is all Nickalodeon characters and Scooby Doo. The rest of the park is mostly coasters and flat rides. There's a family coaster called Italian Job that's supposed to be a lot of fun (I haven't been to the park in 2 years, so I haven't ridden it yet).
And in Williamsburg, we have Busch Gardens. Beautiful park!! Lots of stuff to do. Great coasters. There's not a lot of kiddy rides, but there are some. The park is VERY clean. Lots of great shows. You better hurry though if you want to visit, it's only open for 2 more weekends.

There are so many parks that fit the needs of a 5-7 year old. My home park Kings Island, located north of Cincinnati has been rated Best Kids Area by the Golden Ticket Awards 6 years in a row including this year.
Kings Island during October is celebrating Nick or Treat where you kids dressed up in their scariest or cutest costumes can greet their favorite Nick Jr character and get candy to.
Kings Islands 'Nickelodeon Universe' has rides for all ages so I would consider checking out this park. Go to www.pki.com for more information.

Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio, it has so many rides and options for the little kids, my daughter is also 5 and she has been there 12 times this year alone, she can not get enough of the park. It is also fun for the adults they have lots of rides that you can ride with your children on and have a great time.
