Exact species would be nice, but genus is OK too.

I think it might be from the Philippines, but I am by no means sure. I just saw it at a moth/butterfly "aviary" at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.

Philosamia cynthia --Akilanthus Silk moth Originally from the eastern part of Asia,it is now found throughout the Atlantic seaboard.

I am not an expert but when I was taking an entomology class I found this website that helped me identify different bugs. If you can't find a match looking through there pics then you can send it to them and they may be able to identify it for you.
