I am in need of advise?
I rented a car for a week while i was on vacation, i declined all of the optional insurance ect as i am insured. The cost was 280 for the time we were on vacation. We returned our car last wednesday, at the time we pulled up and a guy walked around the car to inspect it looked inside real quick, check it the gas was full and printed out a recipt and told us here is your final charge have a great day. Today checking online i noticed they charged my 976.93. I called them right away, i took for every to contact some one, but finaly i got ahold of someone and he told me they found a chip in the cars windsheld and they had to replace the windsheld. He told me that i declined other charges therefore i have to pay the damages. What can i do, i did not notice a chip but those things can be unnoticed. I asked him how do you know that someone did that after i droped it off. I have the recipt showing the final charges 288.30

Yes, first call the insurance company. Tell them that you want to dispute the charge. Consider filing a police report for fraud.

They did an inspection so legally anything that they find later is their problem. Secondly they should have notified you. If it is a big company you are going to have to keep calling to get up the food chain. And write down everything.

Call your credit card company. The receipt they gave you is proof of their inspection and release of further liability. Refuse to pay for the wind shield.

They pull that crap on people all the time! Only one's they do not attempt to blame are the foreign suicide bombers who reside in America. Guess for whatever reason, they can completely destroy the car and they accept it back without any further hassles, empty tank of gas included!
