can you base coat over metal without primering??? if not why and what will happen?

no,,, for the primer paint are design for better adhesion of paints to metal,, chemically the primer with its properties that attached itself to the metal without a finished look, this by applying base coat of paint allows more durability to the base paint that will receive the final finish coat

metal surface wont allow base paint to adhere properly this layer of paint will chip off later or rust will set underneath the applied base coat without the primer
