Yes we have but the right is not absolute. The right to life for instance cannot be invoked if one commits a capital crime and draws the death penalty in states that still allow the death sentence.

Same with the right to liberty. It's not the right to do what we want. Liberty is the right to do what is right. When we do wrong we cannot invoke our right to liberty anymore because we transgress the rights of other people for every wrong that we commit.

The right to pursue happiness also has its limitations. It's the same thing as the right to liberty. If our idea of happiness disrupts the moral and social order, then we cannot insist that we have our way.

Yes we do. U.S. law is based on the idea that whatever is not expressly illegal is OK. So your future is not mapped out for you, and you get to decide what happiness you want to pursue. There are different definitions of those terms, and individual rights sometimes conflict with one another -- but that's why there are governments, to reconcile those rights in such a way that we can all agree upon them.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are not rights, they are mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. They are endowed by the Creator, by the way. Should we all have to believe in the Creator?

The Constitution (the Amendments) lists our rights. All other "rights" claimed are not.

No, because several states deny homosexuals the right to pursuit happiness. So not everyone has the rights. Boo to states making people 2nd class citizens.

we did. then it started slowly being taken away from us, and the last decade or so has really accelerated. there are far too many laws, too much stuff illegal that shouldn't be. too many people begging for new laws that would make even more stuff that shouldn't be illegal, illegal. too many politicians more than happy to oblige. stop demanding laws people, and just let other people live their lives!

yes and no

to some people what we have now is to them, life liberty and happiness. and to others, we dont.

i think it depends more on what those things mean to each person.
