Oh, Ricky was a cutie. I listened to his album all the time. I liked Frankie Avalon singing in those beach movies. I was also a big Ringo Starr fan. There were so many good ones.

I was and still am a big fan of 50's and 60's music .
I loved Ritchie Valens because he sang Donna (my name) I cried my heart out when he died with Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper. I loved Elvis and Ricky Nelson and my first record I ever bought was Jenny Jenny by Little Richard. I also liked Chuck Berry and any other artists at the time. Thank God for You-Tube!

I was 14 years old when the movie "Blackboard Jungle" was released and we teeners heard REAL rock and roll for the first time with Bill Haley and Rock around the Clock. It was STUNNING. When all you've heard your whole life is Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and big band music (not that there's anything wrong with that), hearing Rock and Roll was life changing.

My first love was Elvis - I bought his very first record - still have it.... Then, both Everly Brothers, Gene Vincent, "the Killer"-Jerry Lee Lewis. I swooned over young Paul Anka and drooled over "the Diamonds".

The music was incredible....and so much of it was "banned" from many radio stations. Adults thought the music would turn us all into sex fiends or something....all that wriggling around.....Fortunately, my family were all musically talented and everyone from my mother and grandmother to aunts, uncles and cousins, loved the "new" sound.

It was a grand time for music, fer sure.

There were so many great singers back then. I loved listening to Ricky and had many of his records right up until we lost everything in a house fire in Dec., 2006. I also used to watch the Ozzie & Harriett Show with Ricky Nelson, his parents, and his brother. And, YES! he was a HOTTIE!!!

I had a big crush on John Denver, in the 70s. Like I've said before, I was ready to run away to the Rocky Mountains with him! I really miss him.
