when you were growing up, or, if it pertains, when television was young?
I can remember my parents watching "The Real Macoy", I don't remember much about it, but they loved it. In the 60s I loved watching "Get Smart", and "Mission, Impossible".

Yes, doxie, I loved Flip Wilson, too! And Laugh In was funny. And I remember watching SNL with John Beluchi, Dan Ackroid, Chevy Chase (sorry if spelled wrong)

Yes, daisymae, I remember those-Wild Wild West was good, but it was always a bit creepy to me as a child. And Red Skelton was wonderful! Remember the two seagulls-Gertrude and Heathcliff!?

There was also a show that was locally broadcast. It came on Saturday afternoons. It showed all the old horror movies, and the host was a guy called Sir Graves Ghastly-he was dressed sort of like a vampire, and did funny skits during the breaks. I really miss those shows.

Oldtimer, my dad used to never miss wrestling back then. He remembers all the names of the wrestlers. He says it was more real back then, now it's all stage acting pretty much.

Wickwire, your Hercules cartoon reminds me of the "He Man" cartoons my daughter watched in the 80s! I'll bet you remember "Johnnie Quest", too. I liked that one alot.

The real McCoy's wasn't that a family that were farmers, comedy,
The family had a grandfather as head of house and then son and family lived together. It was pretty funny as I can remember. I liked Ed Sullivan and Dean Martin. Flip Wilson was pretty good too. When older I liked the first SNL.
How did I forget Laugh In? The humor on that show was wonderful.
I forgot the Smother Brother Show and the Hippie Dippy Weather man. The list could go on forever!

Going way back I loved Topper, and The Stu Erwin Show, Sheriff John ( a local show), and one whose name I can't recall about a well to do family, the father was usually tipsy and the housekeeper/cook kept everything on an even keel.
Later there was Maverick, Have Gun, Will Travel, Bonanza, The Untouchables, Our Miss Brooks. Then I worked nights for so many years I didn't watch much TV. Recently I think the best show ever was The West Wing. I loved Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, but they canceled it after one season. Boy was I disappointed. Now I like C.S.I (Vegas), N.C.I.S, Cold Case, Cane, Life, Numbers, and so far Journeyman.
I am getting tired of dead bodies. The sitcoms are silly. I wish they would bring back some good variety shows, but there's no one like Dean Martin, Red Skelton, Carol Burrnet, or Sonny and Cher. Oh well.

I was 15 before I ever laid eyes on a TV set. In southern Oregon where I was raised, we didn't get television until about 1955 and it was only broadcasting from about 5:00pm until about 10:00pm.
I Love Lucy, Ed Sullivan Show, Life with Elizabeth (with Betty White - remember that?), Jack Benny, Bonanza. They used to have little 15 minute segments featuring a popular singer doing several songs... Peggy Lee, Jo Stafford and LIBERACE!!! I had sort of a crush on him for a while.
Don't watch much TV today. I don't have cable because I refuse to pay for bad/trash TV....I can get all the bad TV I want for free. There are a couple of shows I enjoy like the Law and Order ones, Shark, Numbers, etc...but most of it is garbage.
I do have an incredible library of video's however...over 300. If I want to "watch" something, I have all the Hollywood Classics to chose from.

In the very early years, I remember Buck Rogers and Star Trek with the ever studly William Shatner and of course, the Smurfs, Family Ties, Cosby show, Soul Train, American Bandstand. Consequently, I evolved into 21 Jump Street- Johnny Depp in his clean years- and Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. Then I started in on HBO and enjoyed The Sopranos and Six Feet Under.. Now I like Lost, Weeds, Californication, Curb your enthusiasm, Big Love.......

We weren't allowed to watch much TV when growing up. I do remember a local weekday morning cartoon program called Hotel Balderdash. They did skits in between the bugs bunny cartoons and would give away prizes. Oh, that reminds me .... Romper Room was great too! There was a song about a do bee.
