Karl Malone used to take forever to take his shot after given the ball by the ref. So the arena crowds in opposing arenas used to count it down loudly. It was kind of cool to have it happen in almost every arena.
Anyway, the point is that lots fans in lots of NBA arenas used to hate Karl Malone.
No, wait the point is that 10 seconds is longer than you think.

It is enforced, funny thing is. You see the players getting a break from the free throws. While the shooter is preparing for the free throw the ref's get a lil break too. I mean don't you notice that the ref's at high school games are a lil over weight. Ha, anyways... the ref's do their own thing. Other then that.... just bring up the rules in plain print. :p

The big clubs will change the rules at sometime in the near future. UEFA reckon only the likes of Arsenal will meet the criteria. Teams like Liverpool and Tottenham will suffer with the low gates unless the ticket prices rocket. The big issue will be for the Spanish Clubs they fail all the tests so perhaps Messi in the Premier League..

I referee high school basketball and I can tell you that I silent count every time but never had to call this particular violation.Keep in mind that its 10 seconds once the shooter has control of the ball and sets hisor herself at the foulline.

if someone thinks RIP freethrow is bad...How about Arenas??
Spin the ball around the hips for 2-3 times???
Jason Kidd kissing thing is weird
Tim Duncun, the funny guy that freezes when he about to shoot
Nash licks both his hand...before touching the ball
Gilbert Arenas is the longest, and they(ref) should do something about it.

Actually, it is, but, like the rule against traveling, is seldom enforced.
