That is actually a pretty easy quadratic because it factors nicely into (y-7)(y-6)=0 (-7-6=-13 and (-7)(-6)=42)
Now set each one equal to zero
y-7=0 so y=7
y-6=0 so y=6

OK
y^ 2 - 13 y + 42 = 0 ; factorize
(y -6)(y-7) = 0
y = 6 or y= 7
Hope this helps.

usually its in the form X^2 - 13x +42 = 0
but in this the roots are 6 and 7.
