Gotta' say I'm a little surprised at all the Tribe fans on here ridiculing the Bosox. I know every team has fans like this, but I pictured Cleveland fans being a little classier than that.
Yankee fans at least have 26 championships on their side, and even the Sox finally have a title in their pocket again. But some of these Tribe fans are amazingly cocky for a team who hasn't won a World Series since the days of Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau.
What's with that?

I should also mention that I'm not a fan of the Sox, but I admire their loyalty to their team. They're around through thick and thin, not like some of those crowds I saw at the Mistake by the Lake when I was a kid.

I agree with you (though not with your choice of music -- from an earlier answer you gave.) The Sox fans and Yankee fans have been trash talking all year long, ad nauseum. I hope the Indian fans would be more like the Cardinal fans and spend more time enjoying their team than bashing the other. Dang. I've been following them because I picked them just before the season began, and it's fun watching the games at the Jake, but I don't get too much into all the bashing that goes on here anyway.

A lot of them aren't really Indian fans, they just feel good by taunting people over the internet. I can guarantee that if the score was reversed some of these same people would be posing as Sox fans and taunting Indian fans. If the Angels or the Yankees or the Tigers or the Mariners or any other team was down 7-0, they'd be on here taunting that team's fans while posing as the competition. Don't let them bother you.
I've never bought the explanantion of "I have something to be cocky about" that some people use because their team has won a World Series. The people doing the taunting had nothing to do with it, other than being lucky enough to be a fan. Really all they're doing is trying to latch on to the accomplishments of others.

When you're bullied into a corner... it becomes self defense.
The Red Sox and NY fans have been dishing it out since the playoffs began. Then - the same fans come back with "you're not being very nice" when things don't work out thier way. A bunch of cry babies. Stop your whining already. It's a competitive sport...
A couple people saying "i told you so" to some arrogant Sox fans does not constitute a poor fanbase. Cleveland fans haven't won ANYTHING major in baseball, basketball, or football since 1948. It's Tribe Time Now - let us enjoy it. And don't let our high-fives, our "way-to-go's" or other victory chants anger you. I know it's never fun to see the "other" teams do it - but we all do it. That's what makes it so fun. It's not something you sit down and watch calmly and merely grin at and call it a night after going up 3-1 in a series vs. Goliath.

What may have triggered some of the taunting you speak of is the fact that Manny being Manny has gotten slightly out of hand. His side show last night after hitting a solo home run with his team down by 5 runs was a classless act to be sure.
Frankly I have not seen taunting in general but rather a joyful time for Indian fans all over the website. With their team up 3 games to 1 perhaps they have a right to be a little cocky at this point. After all no one expected this turn of events.
We Yankee fans laugh at the thought of be accused of such acts. Most of the hate mail comes from Boston when it comes to the "rivalry".
I usually agree with much of what you say but this time I respectfully disagree.

I totally agree, but my guess is, most of these people have not been around all year long. I usually only trash talk with Yankee fans, because that is our job as Red Sox fans. I have been very respectful of Indian fans on here and our series, because they have always been pretty respectful all around. I feel both are teams are comparable and I feel I have presented those facts many times on my posts. This is part of the game and will happen no matter who plays. I try not to trash talk too much, because if the other teams pulls off a miracle and comes back to win, then I end up eating my words or worse, feel like I jinxed my team. Hey, if the Tribe wins, I will be rooting for them and one of my all time favorite players Trot Nixon. If the Sox lose to the Indians, it won't hurt as bad as if they lost to the Yankees. I like the Indians a lot.

Being an Indians fan (born and raised) I don't think it is cockyness. We have been called the best fans in baseball. We are hungry for that title. This team has worked just as hard as any other and may want it more.
We are very loyal. Talk about being with a team through thick and thin, lol.
We are the "underdogs" and are showing what we are made of, that's all.
IMO Boston and NY have the rudest fans in baseball. We're not cocky, just think of it as very enthisiastic. We love our teams in Cleveland no matter what. And the fact that Boston are our biggest rivals too.

I could not agree with you more Craig.Cleveland Fans have absolutely no class in this series.
Yankee Fans have more class then the Indian Fans do.
Its pretty sad when another fan ridicules you for the team you like.
Its sad and there fans are pretty juvenile.
I want to point out to all the Boston haters that I would never treat another fan of a different team the same way I have been treated by Cleveland fans this past week.

It is interesting to see that the true fans of the Indians that have been here all year are ussually pretty classy and respectful to others on here. Since the Playoffs have started I have noticed a lot of "Indians life time fans" posting questions that are rude, ignorant, insulting to others and generally what we saw form the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox and Tigers fans all year...I am starting to think that maybe we are seeing too many transplants from three of the above teams misrepresenting themselves on the internet...SHOCKING!!!
The Indians fans all year have been the class of the large group and now they look like the Browns fans throwing bottles at the referees! Don't lower yourself to the Mets level Indian fan!
The shocking part is how many do not know that you are a Blue Jay fan; you are an icon on this board so that tells me that they are all new and have not seen any of your posts in the past.

I watched the Boston series on tv and was amazed that the fans were crying when Cleveland won their first game of the series there. During the first 2 games they sat there so smug as if it were their birthright to beat Cleveland. It has been a long time for us and as Jackie Gleason used to say, "How sweet it is." Taunting is part of the game
