I thought they seemed interesting, and I was thinking of buying them. What do you think?

I loved both, and not only own both, but I also bought all of Maguire's books. His vocabulary is so rich and discriptive. Plus he really tackles some hard political/social questions that you don't see too many authors doing.

I read "Wicked" a while back, and seem to recall a book called something like "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by Maguire, too... and another... can't remember that title at all-- but I also recall making a mental note to myself to keep an eye out for new books by him, I liked the twists and turns of his stories so much. He's a good writer and I'd give him a chance if I were you.
