Why does the U.S. government pay a private company to guard the U.S. embassy in Iraq instead of the military?

Why isn't the U.S. military good enough to defend it's own embassy? There's a U.S. company called Blackwater which was hired to protect it.

Because the Guards that are killed in the private Companies- DON'T show up in the Death Toll of American Soldiers (& the American People don't hear about it...).

Blackwater was hired to provide security for various govermental agencies, including the State Department's Agency for International Development. Soldiers don't guard embassies. That is the job of the the United States Marines under laws which allocate single-managership of various support functions to agencies outside the Defense Department. And, unless someone can refute it with credible evidence, I believe the Marine Security Detachment guards the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Just as the Army Signal Corps provides for manning of its communications facilities, the Air Force provides air transportation and the Navy provides medical care.

Because we don't have enough soldiers and we want to waste billions of dollars on private companies.
