Try the 1960s! The Bee Gees were singing WAAAAAY before Saturday Night Fever. I actually prefer their non-disco stuff.

Depends on the level of fame you mean

In the early sixties they were known in a part of Australia because when they were teenagers they were on tv shows singing

in the mid to late 1966 they were famous in Australia for some songs such as spicks and specks which went to number one in either Australia or new Zealand.

then in 1967 they became internationally famous with hits like to love somebody and new york mining disaster

then in the 1977 came saturday night fever when the became even bigger and probably their most famous period of work

YES... they were "famous" in the 60's. That is to say... they had hit records, they were popular, they had fans, they were successful and FAMOUS. The "BEST OF THE BEE GEES" was released in 1969. They became MORE famous with the release of the soundtrack of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.

FROM THEIR BIO: "Hits followed hit and hit and in 1965 they capped their achievements with three No1 smashes.

"At the end of that twelve month period they won the title of “Best Group in Australia”” and decided to leave for England. A year after their meeting with Robert Stigwood they had been voted by the British public as the Brightest Hope for the Future, had five gold discs to their name."

It's like Michael Jackson... he was "famous" when he was a little boy singing "one bad apple" with his brothers... but he was much MORE famous with the release of THRILLER.
