The current zeitgeist in Child Psychology, and where the money is, is in neuropsychology and neuropsychological testing. Second would be in risk assessment for suicide, drug use, and inappropriate sexual behavior (mostly in adults, but possibly adolescents as well). There is a growing need for people to provide treatment services for people with Autistic Spectrum Behaviors. Criminal profiling probably falls in the realm of Forensic Psychology and Forensic Assessment, a burgeoning field.

I would think that both of those choice would be interesting but you have to realize that both of them will have difficult issues to deal with. The thing that you have to decide is which difficulties will be easier for you to deal with?? Being a criminal profiler means that you're always dealing with the worse of criminals and when you're an adolescent psychologist you will have to deal with situations of abuse and neglect along with the other issues that children deal with like divorce and just general growing up. You also need to think about the amount of school needed to accomplish what ever you decide to do. To become a psychologist you have to get a PH. D which is the highest academic degree that someone can achieve, To be a criminal profiler you might need a Ph.D in psychology also but the minimum that you will need is a masters in probably psychology and maybe forensics.
