Clearly, the first two responders don't really "get" it, so hopefully I might be of some help.
First of all, you're not alone. Tons of lawyers get out after being tortured for a while in the legal profession. One of my good friends just did. Actually, she worked for a law firm for years, and then she became a law professor for a while...so advice to consider teaching is not bad, although, knowing how much money pursuing a law degree costs, something like Teach For America would be such a step backwards (that's something you do before law school, not after) and wouldn't pay enough. Anyway, then after being a professor for a while, she got into public interest work...and now she is looking at other options, such as positions at law schools that are more like career counseling and the like. You could look at jobs as an admissions officer, which I think would be something awesome to do, personally. I know a couple law school graduates who nearly came right from law school doing that.
Also, lots of people who leave law go into the business sector, which is something a couple friends and I have looked at. Lots of people with law degrees look at jobs in consulting and i-banking. Some start their own businesses. My friend I mentioned before is also writing a book.
Finally, what is your undergrad degree in? What are you good at? What do you enjoy? Would you consider going back to school? Answers to these questions could help you decide what other fields you should be considering.

Ouch, red. That was pretty harsh, and simply not true, I know a lot of lawyers that are as smart as a bag of hammers, there are law schools for really dumb people, just check out Massachusetts School of Law or Appalachian Law School in VA for low entry requirements.
As for the post, there is no one solution for a career move. Michigan pretty much nails it, what do like to do? How much is life/work balance important to you? How important is money? What do you think you are good at? You may want to do a career assesment test and maybe consult a career coach. You can pretty much do whatever you want to do right away, except for things that require a license like MD. Lotsa people go to law school just for something to do. With the growth of law schools, in twenty years I think everyone will be a lawyer.
I don't know if you know about the Mementos candy phenomenon, when you put plain white ones in Coke, it makes the Coke shoot out like a Geyser. It is fun to see. You can multiple bottles and set them up simultaneously and create quite a show. Well two guys are actually touring the World putting on this show. OK, OK, so were is the relevancy. One of the guys used to be a lawyer. Now did he have to go to law school to do this, I do not remember this being taught in Torts. Law Sucks!!!

I'm not sure from what you're "recovering", but if I understand correctly, you want to switch to a completely different profession, is that right? It depends on what your other qualifications are, of course. Certainly as a lawyer you would have been trained in writing, and there are many different kinds of writing jobs you could pursue. Teaching would definitely be a change of pace, and challenging for an intelligent person like yourself. Look into programs like Teach For America. Have you considered simply switching to another area of law?
