I give out full sized candy, and I run out really fast because trick-or-treaters MUST tell others what houses are giving out good stuff, so I usually end up having to go to the Supermarket at least 5 times every Halloween to get more candy.....

We live in the country now so not many people stop by.
Last year we lived in the city and my brother had a bowl of candy passing it out while my sister went to the bathroom. Some kid came up and stole it from him (he was 8 at the time). That pissed me off so I vowed to become the Candy Avenger! Watching the streets and stopping candy thieves.

Because my son, who is 18, is going out with friends to do God only knows what (I told him just don't get arrested) or playing video games in his bedroom and I'll be out of town all week on a business trip to Utah. My husband will be at a retirement dinner for his boss, so we didn't decorate this year (and this is our favorite holiday, after Christmas) and we're not handing out candy.

Due to the fact i live in Australia AND in the country to boot, the chances of Trick or Treaters is extremely unlikely.

We buy Halloween toys by the gross and give those out instead of candy. I figure a choking hazard is better than childhood obesity.

All the kiddies in our burg go to the church for a party and candy. We all live way too out in the country and our driveways are long and mostly steep w/out street lites.
We donate our candy to the church.

We try to hand out candy, every year! We really do! I think the problem is our dog-- he's a HUGE, hairy, 140-lb, half Timberwolf, and the neighbors are scared of him. Poor guy! If only they knew how sweet and timid he is, and how much he really likes kids-- maybe then they'd bring them by. Oh, well.
