...as every devoted horror film and Dracula film afficiendo is quite aware of, this 1970 filmed version of Bram Stoker's classic horror novel, directed by cult Euro-director Jess Franco, and starring Christopher Lee (...in a surprisingly effective and striking non-Hammer Films performance as the Count), is universally reputed to be the closest adaptation of the novel...

The Gary Oldman movie is not like the book. The best Dracula movies were the Christopher Lee movies(Hammer Production - British) made in the 1960's. Lee made many Dracula movies. One or two were close to the book.

Its close to the book, but not exact of course. It does deviate quite a bit in some areas and added many things not included in the novel. I really enjoyed the film though as well as the book. Gary Oldman is terrifying as Dracula. Directed by Francis Ford Copolla (Godfather, Apacolypse Now).

this is a list of several differences from the novel:

Even with the differences, I still really found the film enjoyable.

It was o.k. A little draw out. The book is deffinately better.(but, then again, most books are) The original with Bela Lugosi is much better.
