no they said that parents give consent for their children to use the school healthcare and since health care is supposed to be a private thing after they give their consent that first time they no longer can be informed of what services their children are using! AND the worst part is the majority of the kids that use the school healthcare are poor and can't afford it anyother way... so it's like saying to parents if you are poor you no longer have a say over your child... I dunno.... it seems not right to me....

I have mixed feelings about this. First off, I think it is
pretty damn awful that 11 year olds would even NEED
birth control, but at the same time I guess they wanted
to keep them safe in case for whatever reason they
decide (albeit foolishly) to have sex!

I think that they should, but abstinence should be
HEAVILY promoted, especially to kids THAT
young.

What is creepy is that children that young are having sex and are in need of birth control. I think that treats the symptom while ignoring a very serious disease. I don't have children, but if I did, I would be FURIOUS to learn that a school gave my child birth control without my consent. I would want to get involved with my child and address the fact that they were interested in having sex so young, and put a stop to it. But then, I guess if parents were still like that, their kids wouldn't be 11 and having sex int he first place.

It is so convenient to simply say that it is a privacy issue. However, in cases such as these it is irrational to say a child can make life changing decisions without the parents consent. The problem here is a child (to me a child is any human being from the age of 0 to 17 9/10th). cannot make such decisions sense they are ill prepared (if at all) for such decisions.
Beyond that, parents are supposed to take care of their children and raise them up rightly. Not government or private corporations.

Well it's sad but realistically there are children that young who decide to have sex and there's years of stories of 11 and 12 year olds getting pregnant. In fact the youngest person on record to get pregnant was 5. And in fact I watched an episode of Montell one time (about 2 years ago) where they were talking about young teen pregnancy and one of the guests was a clinic worker or something and she mentioned having clients as young as 8 getting pregnant. Honestly most of these under 13 year olds who have sex are rape and incest victims and perhaps they may feel that birth control will help them.

It is wrong. People are tending to make children have
sex these days, way before it is their time. But that is
so sac religious, I do not wanna be that person who
makes the rules, on Judgement Day. *
