The above sort of fit into the horror genre, but none of them have given people nightmares. If you want scary horror, than definitely go with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

Try Hundred Stories. It doesn't rely on blood / gory to make it scary. It relies more on the atmosphere to make scary (the blood only supports the whole series)

Actually the one that is coming out it is called Red Garden...Its 26 episodes long and is pretty good.
