She had a whole episode with a dog she took from an animal's group....she couldn't keep it, so she gave it to some girls...friends of employees that she knew...and the group called up to check on the dog, found out she no longer had it, and took the police and literally just took the dog away from the 12 year old girl. They made a big scene over it, really upset the child, which really upset Ellen.
Not much was said about the fact that this was a money and power play on the part of the group, who takes the animals back again and again and then gets more money for them.
'They also had a ridiculous rule that no child under 14 could have an animal to care for.
Ellen was embarrassed because she was just finding the dog a good home, knew this family, and thought the children were not treated well.
For some reason when she started talking about it, she just got really emotional....my guess is there were probably other reasons why she got so upset as well as just this one.
It should show people that these groups are formed for power and money....not concern for the dog or children who would like to raise them. There are lots of ways to get a pet...so people should ignore these groups. They are invading people's homes and lives and have no right to do that.

She was crying because she adopted a dog that didn't quite work out for her. Those things do happen; but instead of returning the dog to the animal group (she signed a paper agreeing to do this), Ellen gave the dog to her hairdresser who has 2 young children. The children now love the dog, the dog loves them, the animal group is mad at Ellen, Ellen is distraught and begging forgiveness and asking the animal group to please let the dog be returned to the hairdresser and her family ... what's wrong with all of this? I realize Ellen broke a rule, but in this whole scenario doesn't the animal group care about what's best for the dog? -- It was given in good spirit, and the dog was happy -- it's not like Ellen gave the dog away to a laboratory to be used for testing ~ or ~ to be used in an illegal dog fighting group. I say lay it to rest, return the dog to the family, forgive Ellen and use this whole experience as a lesson to future adopters that from this day forward the rule will be strictly enforced with NO MORE EXCEPTIONS !!
UPDATE: After watching Bill O'Reilly the other night, I've changed my opinion -- the rescue group's attorney claims he has proof that Ellen's hairdresser WAS offered the dog as long as they filled out an application like anyone else -- BUT again, according to the rescue group' attorney, they refused apparently since Ellen told them not to???
So, real messy, unfortunate mix-up ~ OR ~ PUBLICITY STUNT ??!!

It's nice that celebrities can go on national tv to discredit an organization without the decency to allow a proper defense. So many lemmings take Ellen's word like she speaks the good Lord's own gospel, just because she's a friendly dike with her own sindicated talk show....therefore she must be right! Celebrities are getting away with breaking social rules and laws all over the place because of their status...this is wrong. Rules and regulations are enforced for a reason - Ellen breached the contract she signed (but obviously didn't read) and now the rescue agency is getting death threats because Ellen has her own show to be able to blackball a volunteer pet rescue agency? What an ingnorant twit. Never liked Ellen, and now hate her even more. Hopefully the dog goes to a family with integrity.

She adopted a dog from a rescue place. she paid for the dog to go through training and all that but it was still too hyperactive for her and her cats. She gave the dog to her haoirdresser and 2 little kids. The family and kids fell in love with te Dog. The adoption place found out she gave the dog away and went and took it back from the hairdresser and kids, Ellen felt bad that the kids got heartbroken.

I think the answer was stated above already. These animal groups tick me off. It's not like she gave away a child. It's a freaking dog that was given to a loving family. But this high and mighty group has to go take the dog away like the dog police. F them. All these groups act like they are the law. The dog was in a good place, leave it alone. They should be pissed on and lit on fire. Be happy the dog was in a good home and get on with your job and stop acting like idiots. Who cares if it was Ellen or Joe Schmo.

She adopted a dog which she spent thousands of dollars on only to find out she had to give it away. The dog had too much energy so she gave it to her hair stylist. Then when she told the adoption people that she gave the dog away they went and took it from the other family because Ellen was in violation of her adoption agreement by giving the dog away (which she didn't know). So anyway, she was upset the dog was removed from the family because apparently the family had two kids who were really attached to the dog. She was begging the adoption people to return the dog.

She gave a dog to her hair dressors family. The family loved the dog. The adoption agency took the dog away for on the paper Ellen signed it said she couldn't give the dog to someone else.

She adopted a dog and when it didn't work out she gave the dog to her hair dressers family. The organization she adopted the dog from found out and took the dog away from the family because Ellen signed a contract saying if the dog didn't fit into her life she had to return it to the organization.

Ellen adopted a dog, and gave it to her hairdresser and her two little kids, after finding it didn't fit in with her and her cats, being a little hyperactive--I guess it would have been excited to have found a loving carer.
Some unfeeling bastards at the dog shelter she got the dog from decided to take it back because it was apparently in breach of a contract she had signed stating that if she couldn't look after the dog, it had to be returned to the shelter.
Try telling that to the little kids who had bonded to it.

Her dog didn't die. She adopted a dog and couldn't care for it so she gave it to some friends w/ little girls. The agency she adopted the dog from found out she gave the dog away and they took the dog from the people she gave it to to go live at the shelter again. She's very upset the dog was taken back.
