She publicly discredited a rescue agency on live television because she adopted one of their dogs, then gave it away to a friend because it wouldn't get along with her cats. Problem was she signed a contract requiring her to return the dog to the agency if she could not care for it - a VERY standard agreement enforced by adoption and rescue agencies. Now the agency is receiving death threats because of Ellen's selfish act when all they were doing was enforcing their rules and protecting the animal. Regardless of how wonderful Ellen says her hairdresser's family is with the dog, the agency does not know them to trust them. They have an obligation to protect the pet, and provide rigorous screening to ensure the pet is in good hands. Ellen disregarded this important policy, and now she has put the agency in danger. So pathetic considering all Ellen's friend had to do was approach the rescue agency with an intention to re-adopt the dog, then go through the same screening procedure like everyone else. They probably would have gotten the dog back legitimately with no harm to anyone/thing involved. Ellen was absolutely reckless and selfish in her actions.

I don't blame Ellen for what has happened since she spoke about the dog on the air. Yes, she most certainly should have read the fine print in her contract but that is all she's guilty of. The fact of the matter is that the agency does not allow families with children under 14 to adopt their pets. Whether I agree with the ruling or not, it is what it is.
The fact that people have called in making bomb threats must have come as a surprise to Ellen as it did to the rest of us. To think that she would condone something like that is ludicrous.

She hasn't been fired, she's just under fire from Mutts and Moms for allowing her dog to be taken care of by her hairdresser's family without the shelter's consent, and she made a tearful plea on the show for them to return the dog to the family. I doubt they would fire her over that.
