I am currently taking vitex/chaste tree (vitex angus castus on a daily basis, twice a day after meals 400mg each pill. The reason I am taking this is because Im hoping this will regulate my period, and make me start natural having a period. I began to take it about 1 week ago. My last period was August 25th, which was a period brought on my the use on progesterone. It is not October 16th,and still no period. I took 2 pregnancy test, and both came out negative. One test 1 week after my missed period, with first morning urine. And the second one this morning with first morning urine. So I am not pregnant. Since I have now not had a natural period for about 52 days. I am about to take progesterone again to bring on a period.. aka.. withdraw bleeding.. and start this TTC process again.. My question is.. Can I take the progesterone, and continue to take the Vitex twice a day? The progesterone pills my doctor prescribed are for 5 days. Should I continue to take the Vitex? Or stop for 5 days?

I would recommend checking with your pharmacist as well to see what they say.

As for the periods stopping it is true that stress can cause them to stop but having a hormone imbalance such as with the thyroid can cause the periods to stop too. I would recommend asking your doctor about the possibility of a hormone imbalance causing this to see what they say.

I also have pcos. Has she ever actually been diagnosed with pcos because you mentioned the polycystic ovaries? With the exercise you all are doing and the hormone meds it is very possible she could lose the weight and also the excess hair, but she needs to be diagnosed first so that they know how to treat her, she either needs a second opinion or find a doctor that knows about pcos. If she stays with her current doctor she may need to get aggressive and take charge and get them to help her, I had to do that in order to get treatment. Sorry I am coming on strong but some of these doctors are something else. I am so glad your willing to help your wife, as a women with pcos I see a lot of women out through on support boards who has lack of spousal support and don't want to understand. If you want more information email me and I will point you to some wonderful support sites that can help you and her and maybe answer more of your questions in the process because there is a lot you need to learn about pcos in order to help keep your wife healthy. It is a tough road to ride sometimes.
