Although they both do the same thing, Bootcamp only allows you bootup in either Windows or OS X where as Parallels ( which I have) or VMWare (which is apparently better) allow you to run BOTH Windows and OS X side by side.

It would also pay to check the system requirements of the CAD application as some are cross platform meaning that you could just run the Mac version and some are Windows only so you would have to run VMWare or Bootcamp.

OS X is much better than Windows at handling heavy loads and is able to utilise up to 16GB of RAM (MacPro). As I understand heavy loads are pretty normal when dealing with schematics of large structures or car frames and engine designs.

Also Vector works and ArchiCAD

To reboot the computer means that you re start it but hold down the Option button during the restarting process to bring up the boot disk option window which allows you to select which OS you want to bootup in.

This is where VMWare or Parallels have an advantage over Bootcamp in that you can run your AutoCAD in Windows on the same screen as OS X and just move between windows rather than having to reboot the machine every 5 minutes when you want to check on something.

It allows you to treat Windows a an application rather than a standalone OS which you can just stand in the Dock when not needed.
