I've noticed this. but i think it's up to their defense lawyer. and i don't know about other regions of the country but down here if you're black and in trouble u might as well be defending yourself in the courtroom

The insanity plea rarely works for anyone actually. Overall, when someone commits a serious crime they are sent to prison regardless if they are severely mentally disabled. The woman that drown her kids in the bath was the exception. She basically got away with it. But her case drew such media attention that a decent team of lawyers took her case and got her out on insanity. And if you look closely at her, you can tell she is not the pearl of the white race. She appears to be possibly Native American, or have something else in her that I can't identify. Not that it matters, or that it made any difference what so ever.

I've really never noticed this. But, lets take OJ SImpson and Michael Jackson as examples here. Yeah they have a lot of money...but they are also black men. No matter what they do, it seems that they get away with it. If a white man were to molest a child or kill his wife and lover, he'd be put away for life. Unfortunately if any ruling was that extreme with these 2 cases they would just keep appealing the courts and the whole time probably be screaming prejudice. I'm not saying that Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie were let off any easier. If anything that was a disservice, but the ordinary average citizens like you and me pay the price. No matter what color our skin is. Its all about the $$$$. The more money you have, the better off you are when it comes right down to it.

I think whites are more likely to have a better lawyer that knows when an insanity plea has a good chance. A lot of blacks convicted of crimes are stuck with court-appointed lawyers whose pay is not dependent on performance.

It is a fact that Black people get stiffer sentences for crimes then white people. That is why people are trying to change this. But still yet there is a lot of hate and fear against blacks.
No matter how unfair this is. It is a fact of life.
I am white and so is a lot of my friends who would like to see this change.

This might be an overgeneralization. But I will say that there is a lot of racism in the judicial system. I think a lot of things work for white people that don't work for black people.

if a white person does a commit crime you have to question their mental condition. it's just expected for some blacks to commit crime.
