i've looked EVERYWHERE and can't find it!!! please help

Samuel Adams defended the British soldiers and Capt Preston and they were all vindicated.

No. The Captain and his eight soldiers were tried separately. Captain Preston was tried first and acquitted. The eight soldiers were tried later and two were convicted of manslaughter, after pleading "benefit of clergy" Montgomery and Killroy had their sentences reduced to being branded on the thumb.

Their attorney was John Adams, Sam Adams cousin, who took considerable heat for defending the soldiers.
