I like www.labellapaper.com, shipping is usually done within 24 hours and has page toppers already done for you and some neat kits for only $12.99. I know I own the site and I can make you whatever you would like in the way of page toppers, etc. I have more kits coming in a week and more themed brads. I carry Bisous (fabulous - more coming next week) and Bazzill as well as other papers.
I think that the idea of a sb for hubby is a wonderful idea. Just be sure you journal a lot! so that he knows all the little ins and outs of what the kids did in that picture. JOURNAL, JOURNAL, JOURNAL

Oriental Trading has great stuff, usually pretty good prices. Also QVC and Home Shopping Network have some really good bargains sometimes. Try the Creative Memories and Stampin' Up websites. They'll give you the name of consultants in you area. Not only do they sell very high quality supplies, but they'll help you figure out how to get started.

Try Creative Memories- They have quick kits that have everything you need to create an album- pages are pre-embellished, so all you have to do is put in your pics and add decorative touches (included) if you want to. If you want to get more involved you can choose one of the Power Pallets, they have all the paper and stickers (as well as instructions on how to put the pages together) in one kit- all coordinated:-) Then you choose your album cover.
Another option, if you don't want to cut and paste, is to create a Picfolio album, you just slide your photos into archival photo sleeves...easy!!
Go to the site and click "Contact me" if you have any questions:-)

For myself, I just walked through stores and looked at their papers, embellishments, etc. I bought a pad of papers that color coordinate. I found tips online by searching for scrapbook layouts or scrapbook tips.

I would highly recommend Joann's (www.joanns.com). Their prices are a little lower and they usually have some kind of promotion going on (free shipping, or 40% off). They have a 40% off coupon in their ad (that's usually in the Sunday paper). You can also sign up to get coupons by email and those can be used online or in store.
