Somebody had mentioned this the other day and it got me thinking. Given the chance, would i really want to live forever? Not only on an individual bassis but globally as well. thinking more along the lines of practicality rather than religion where do you stand?

I believe that thinks Have value and are appreciated because they have a time limit so-to-speak, but on the other hand i look at other things and would never want to let them go.

Not meant to be too serious a question so have fun with it. Thanx

Wheeeeeeee. Immorality. I'm having big fun, now! Oh, no, wait, that was immortality, not immorality, right? Seriously, though, I believe there is some sort of immortality. Not that I would want to continue in this form on this world indefinitely. After all, not even our planet or our sun are immortal. And I don't what the immortality we do possess will consist of; my immortal soul in immortal torment for my sixty to ninety years of sin? Not so much, thank you. Immortality of my immortal soul in a heaven populated by people who have never sinned? Don't sound too good neither. Constant rebirth on the wheel until I achieve enlightenment? Hmmmmm, Bodisattavas, don't hold your breaths. However, physics tells me that energy can only be altered, not destroyed. And biology tells me that I am animated by some sort of bio-electrical and bio-chemical energy. So, once that energy stops animating this particular vessel, where does it go? Does it remain discrete or does it rejoin a planetary or even universal ambient energy field? I have no idea. Ah, the undiscovered country.

i would want to live longer, but not forever

first of all, unless a new technology came out with it, we'd still be aging physically, and be incapable of moving after our first 10ish years after 100, so living forever would be torture

second, it makes life's value lessen. yes, it would allow you to do more, which is key in life, but it would make things you do do less important. it's like having those few friends that really matter as to a whole group of some support that comes no where near as close to the few friends
