what happens when the placenta is taken away?

hello there well the doctor told my mother they have to take her placenta away because of some difficulties the good thing is that she already operated her self to not have anymore baby's but i am worried and i wanna know the cause and effects and pros and cons about this operation. will something bad happen to my mommy?

Um, I think you mean a hysterectomy?

A placenta is only in her body when she has a baby.

is it just me or isnt the placenta only present when you are pregnant???
