Afterwork? The weekend? In a letter?

I wouldn't care when he told me, I would just be happy that he felt comfortable to tell me something important about him like this. I wouldn't care the time of day or day of the week, I would only care that he cared enough to decide to talk to me about how he feels. I hope that with my children I have that good of a relationship to where they can tell me anything without wondering how I'll react or worry about my reaction. Better to know then to not know, I think. If your talking about your parents, I suggest catching them when they're not stressed out from work at all and are relaxed and focused, but that's my opinion. Not sure how your parents are but the best bet is when they're relaxed and focused on YOU....

I would pick a time which is less stressful [not afterwork etc] probly on the weekend so if she has any questions or advice you are both around to chat to eachother. Maybe write down what you are going to say before you do, so you make sure you say everything you want to say. If it is too hard to verbally say it at all a letter might be best but i wouldnt want my son writing me a letter, better to be upfront. Good luck!

Here I'll take this from the son's point of view.

First I would take into account the time. Are the parentals stressed? or is it a good day? If they're stressed it addes stress but they'd be less likely to react back. If it's a good day, must you ruin their day?

Then I'd think about the parentals. Try and judge their reactions. Are they heavy catholic or are they more accepting? One must think before acting, never make rash dicisions.

But if it was my son, I wouldn't care. Gay guys? Rock on! I have several gay friends, they're no different from other guys. Heck they even hate shopping just as much! =]

LOL - funny... I did it in a letter but then again mom was in another state. She really didn't know but most of the time they really do.
Don't be afraid... the sooner it's out there the sooner the drama can start and the sooner it's over. You will be much closer in the end.
If the parents have never met anyone gay or you know they are ill about the whole society then move far away and tell them on the phone. LOL j/k

I would already know my son was gay before he would because I'd be the most attentive mom ever! He could tell me anytime of day, or week, in any format because I am the mother and it's my job to listen when he has something important to tell me. I just want him to be comfortable. This subject would be very easy for me to handle.

He could tell me anytime he felt comfortable. My children can tell me anything and I would still love them just as much as I did the day they were born.
