Nobody on the Red Sox is worthy of being compared to much of anything.

Such an analogy would work better with a pre-2004 Red Sok, as that was the ending of the great quest, much like Odysseus had to endure. Yaz or Ted would be the obvious choices, but I'd probably go with Wakefield, as the senior Sok on the 2004 team. Enduring tenacity and the ability to maintain despite being buffeted by the winds of fortune. He's started, he's relieved, he has conquered, he has been beaten, but he was still there, still going onward, and on that eclipséd night that the Sox achieved the summit, he was there.

Ortiz or Ramirez. It HAS to be a leader, look at Odysseus, the best leader ever! Powerful, strong, smart, clutch, are all characteristics. Actually, Varitek MAYBE! Hes the team captain dude. Yeah, probably Varitek. def.
