I just wanted to know if it is possible for a man in his mid 40s with proper diet, to start doing exercise (like cardio) and also weights and build musles and get 6 pack abs? Or is it too old to think about it?

Just curious

It is very possible, especially with a trainer. :)

I am 58 years old. I work out daily. I am 6' tall and weigh 229 pounds. I have the perfect six pack and 17" arms with 48" chest. My waist is a 34. I am still active within martial Arts and stretch out three times daily. You are never to old to build back the muscle from your youth.

I am 42, in the armed forces and I am required to do it. It gets harder without a doubt. You will never get the aerobic fitness you had in your 20s but you have the capacity to be just as strong (or Ab-tastic if that is what you want) The reason lots of people don't is that it gets harder. The trick is to do something every day but do not overtrain.

Dude, you must think being forty years old is ancient. I started doing push ups about a six months ago and recently started doing sit ups too, on a slant board.

Every morning, I get down and crunch out 125 push ups, non-stop, then move on to the slant board and do 125 sit ups. I confess, I don't put my arms behind my head but I cross them on my chest. By the way, I'm 68 years old. Semper Fidelis!

Anyone at any age can build muscle, of course as you age the muscle may be less defined, but 40's is not too old for decent/defined muscle and abs.

sure...it may not be a smooth looking 8 pack but it will be there. Heres some food for thought, I saw a 70 year old guy in an area of wilderness that took atleast a week to backpack to...i bet he had a six pack

Yes, but it's easier in his twenties. You'll have to do lots of reps with smaller weights, and also try to do a few at maximum load. In your twenties, you have more testosterone, the male hormone which is responsible for sex drive, secondary sexual characteristics, muscle building, and agression. This is why you are mellower, and not as needy, sexually, as a 20-yr. old.

LOL....mid 40's isn't too old to do anything including building muscles.

Remember the muscles are already there......they just need to be developed.

Both men and women over 40 can start to build muscles! You can start at any age but, naturally, it's easier for men and easier for women before menopause than after.
