Well it is not the same thing as gender nonconformity. Many children have this and it goes undiagnosed and they think they were born gay, causing them, or an influence to making them gay. Gender nonconformity can be born in a child, or a child can learn characteristics that make the child have some gender nonconformity.

Gender nonconformity can range from a child having characteristics that seem to belong to the opposite gender, up to the child wanting to be the opposite gender.

Now some children like to cross dress and can become gay or not, this is more considered a transvestite, but usually it spurs from some gender nonconformity undiagnosed and untreated.

Do not be fooled.
Homosexual is a man attracted to men exclusively.
Homosexual is a woman atttracted to women exclusively.

Heterosexual is a man or a woman attracted to the opposite sex exclusively.

Bisexual is being attracted to both.
Then you get the gay side of bi, and the straight side of bi.

Those are your fundamental orientations.

Then you get classifications. The classifications are added to the definitions, but are not the definitions.
Straight acting. Effeminate. In between.

Too many people think that the classifications signify being gay. But don't be fooled.

Homosexual is exclusive attraction to members of the same sex.

... well lets see homo meaning same and sexual... well I hope I don't need to explain that. So it means somebody attracted to same sex. Why didn't you just use a dictionary?

It is someone who is sexually attracted to the same sex from the Greek prefix "homo-" meaning "same". "hetero-" means "opposite" so a heterosexual is someone attracted to the opposite sex.
