what do you think it is...

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I have no idea. The only thing I do is wake up every morning and take care of business, I try to be a good person and not hurt anyone. That's my life. I think life means something different to everyone.

every ones meaning of life is different i believe were put here for a reason and everyone has it in them to do good for the world but sometimes we lose ourselves in life and its hard to get back to the way we were things happen in life that make people lose all hope we forget what weve learned in life and have so much hatred for people and bitterness we just end up not caring i wish we could realize what we are doing and do something to stop it before there is no one left in the world to care......that would be a sad world to live in

I keep answering this question over and over--pay attention this time.

Life has no meaning, but it does have a purpose: the purpose of life is to distract us from the fact that life has no meaning.

Won't know the meaning of our lives until we die. We know our purpose in life by our deeds.

Philosophers and Theologians have debated this question for eons and have no answer -- the debate goes on.

I don' think there is a meaning to life. I think that we're here and then we die and thats all there is to it. Kinda depressing if you think about it that way but thats how i feel.
