It more depends on your maturity. Your parents will have to go to court to determine a custody arrangement, at which time you can ask to speak to the judge, 14 is usually a good age when judges are confident that you can make a good decision for yourself. You can explain to a judge what you want and they will take that into consideration, but ultimately they get to decide. Why do you want to be with a particular parent? People will want to know that so they know you are choosing the right parent for the right reasons.
Or you can tell your parent you feel closer to and they should do whatever to make sure you are feeling safe and comfortable. Good Luck!

I think the law varies with state/country, but I think it SHOULD be about 13. My parents didn't separate but when my wife and I split up the kids stayed with her, and we were all saitsfied with that. I think the non-custodial parent should have virtually unlimited access though.

I'm pretty sure it's 12, that's when the judges really take your decision into consideration. But to officially be the one to have the last say, you have to be 16.
