Vermont. It has a healthier climate, fewer people & lower crime rate. In FACT, it's probably one of the best places in the World- to live! :)

It all depends on what your personal taste are. Each state has it's own richness in culture and history. I live in North Carolina and love it from the mountains to the beach because of it's diverse settings, people, and history. Of course I'm sure the thing could be said about Vermont; not only that Vermont is the home of Ben and Jerry's. If you are looking for information on either state try www.visitnc.com and http://www.vermont.gov/portal. Either of those will have information on history to live entertainment venues.

Vermont has the nations WORST sex crime laws in the country. They refuse to protect children from pedophiles and rapists. Vermont sucks.

Child rapists in Vermont routinely get probation, or 6 month sentences for raping a child. Just look up Judge Cashman's record. I don't care how 'healthy' a place is, if the law refuses to protect children, then I wouldn't live there.

Wow, that first answerer seems to have quite an axe to grind!
Both states are relatively inexpensive to live in with affordable housing, but the weather would be much milder in Carolina. It depends on what you are used to and what is important to you and your lifestyle.

Me, I would chose Vermont. Very clean state, excellent environmental laws.
