edit: Cantspel... here's some advice, wiki articles are good for quick reference but it doesn't beat the actual books. For your knowledge the Battle of Britain was fought in 1940, not the entire war.

The Battle of Britain was an air battle fought mainly over southern England from August to October 1940.
The main planes on the German side were 5 types of bombers, the Junkers 87, a dive bomber, The Junkers 88, various types of the Heinkel111, the Dornier215 and the Dornier 17.
The Germans also used two main types of fighters, the Messerschmidt 109 and the Messerschmidt 110 and a few Heinkel 113.
On the British side the main planes were the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane and a few Boulton-Paul Defiants
To assist the defence some ground based weapons were used. These were anti-aircraft guns, barrage balloons , searchlights and radar.

The Battle of Britain was the attempt by Nazi Germany to destroy England's will to fight by bombing the country from the air. You can find the complete list of aircraft used in the reference.
