The debacle with steroids (Congressional investigation, Giambi's or others who admitted they were "juiced"), the Bonds ball going to the hall with an asterisk; the stupid rule that says if the wild card winner cannot play their division winner in the first round (just a coincidence that it's usually the Red Sox/Yankees that cannot play each other). Now the latest is the World Series has a better than average chance of being snowed out. Is this guy the worst in the modern era?

aside from all those good points you have to add one of the dumbest decisions, winner of the all-star has home field in the world series. Along with all the facts he hasnt been good. but he did retire the # 42, at least he did one good thing

Since the commissioner works for the team owners and not the fans, it is the owners that rate his job performance and they consistently give him high marks. His decisions are not only made in the best interest of the game, but also to increase revenue for the owners and he has done that. Including this year there have been six consecutive years of attendance records and Selig has negotiated record breaking television contracts as well. He has the full support of the owners for a job well done.

Quite possibly. Obviously, the owners will want another buddy boy in there, so the next one might be even worse. But it's just impossible to rate any of the others so far below Selig.

By the way, thanks Mr. Selig for blocking me from the division serieses and the NLCS. The first post season look I will get of the Rockies is in the World Series. You suck.

He has made mistakes, but i think most people are down on the guy because he was an owner who took over the commisioner's job. Frankly, i think he has been a much better commisioner than David Stern over the past 10 years. Also, look at all the mess that Roger Goodell had to clean up in his first year. It doesn't exactly make "Tags" look good , either.

Well, the new playoff system is great and he deserves some credit for that; however, he also deserves some criticism for turning a blind eye to the sterioids issue that was prevailing for the longest time.

I think he's an easy target to "hate" as are all leaders but he's done some decent things for the game.

Worst ever? I wouldn't even know how to compare him to the comissioners in the past.

Yea, he'll have an asterisk next to his name in the record books and be known only as Blind Eye Bud

Bud Selig is worse than Barry Bonds. His head has grown bigger over the years than Barry's.

He needs to get out and get a fan friendly commissioner in there, like a former player. Cal Ripken comes to my mind
