I should probably ask this as a poll question. But I am going to ask it here. How many people are in a interracial marriage? And how many people out there still have a problem with interracial marriages?

And just so everyone knows upfront. My marriage is interracial and I am just curious about other peoples view points

My marriage is not interracial, but that's just the way it turned out. I have no problem with interracial marriages. When my daughter is old enough to be married I will accept her husband regardless of his race, as long as he is a good person and treats her well. That's more important than anything else. It is upsetting, however, to see how many people today still disapprove of interracial relationships.

I think it's a beautiful thing. Wonderful. I think that it's just peoples ignorance that leads to foolish words actions and misconceptions. I am not in any relationship, but I am of mixed background. My mother is caucasian(german) and my father is African American. There are often statements made that are unnecessary and rude, disrespectful and hurtful, but if you love that person it shouldn't matter. I feel truly sorry for people who disagree with interracial relationships because it means they have been blinded. I don't see what the problem is, but other people were raised in different situations and therefore there are differences in society and viewpoints. My mother posted a similar question on the german answers site and you should have seen the responses. She didn't say that she was in an interracial marriage so some people asked what her problem was that there was nothing wrong with it, while many others still said that people should stay within their boundaries and stick with their race. WOW!!!!
But, if I do say so myself, mixed children are gorgeous!!!
God Bless

I will be in an interracial marriage starting November 4. We never had a problem with our race - at least not to our faces. It probably has to do with living in a large city where interracial relationships are common. Where I work alone, there are three different people who are in interracial marriages.

I'm in an interracial marriage.

I don't get why people would have an issue with it as it has absolutely no bearing on their lives and marriages. It's like people who fear that gay marriage is a threat to heterosexual marriages (If that's what you believe, your marriage is in a sorry state if it's threatened by someone elses marriage!)

I married my husband because he had the qualities I desired in a spouse (trustworthy, kind, compassionate and challenges me to be my best and happiest self). I would have chosen any man of any race with these qualities. He was the one that had them all.

I am in a interracial marriage. I don't see it as being any different as same race marriages. He's white and I'm half black. i've noticed in our town not alot of people would say it, but think it's wrong even when we were just dating. Even more so because he is 18 years older than me.

I am white. I was married to a white man. I don't have a problem with it but I do think that it can CAUSE problems. If you would get into a relationship like that, you have to be prepared for the obstacles you are going to face especially your kids. Of course, now adays, things are different then they were even 10 years ago. People are more accepting. But I think there will still always be a "thing" about it. Especially with older people. That's too bad because things that people do are their business and should not matter but it does. People will always wonder what other people think. More power to you. I think people who are in these relationships are very brave and independent because they do what they want and doesn't let society dictate to them.

i was in an interracial marriage but we have divorce. it wasn't because of the color of our skin but for other reasons. i do not have a problem with it at all. i think it is great. currently i am dating a white guy and i am black. i dont even see color anymore, however, there are still many people that are not happy to see interracial marriages or couples. i have my experience of stares, comments, and rudeness.

I have step daughter and also my brother had an interracial relationship. I have loved the sister in law dearly for 30 yrs.
I live in the deep south and have never a problem. 4 of my 5 children thinks it is love that counts. You do not judge a man by the color of his skin but rather the content of his character. We see quite a bit of of variety in color and nationality in Florida.

My father is black and my mother is white.... They have been married since 1972 (still married). Obviously, I do not have a problem with it at all.

They just look like my parents to me. I guess that is why no other interracial marriages bother me.

i doesnt bother me on most occasions, but sometimes it does.

if its a true love situation, the type where they are committed for the best and the worst of life, then cool..

but if its a marriage or relationship of status or convenience then yeah, i have a problem with it-its sad and pathatic (i.e marrying someone to become a citizen, or to appear more affluent or because of a stupid belief that one race is "better" than another).
