1. the diaphysis (or shaft) and the epiphyses on the ends
2. red bone marrow is where the red blood cells are produced (errythropoeisis), yellow marrow is where we find adipose tissue (or fat)
3. voluntary muscles, also known as skeletal muscles are under voluntary control (the somatic nervous system)
4. cardiac muscle (myocardium) has an intrinsic nervous system, it is controlled by the SA node and modified by the autonomic nervous system
5. smooth muscle, also known as visceral muscle is involuntary and is found in the walls of some organs, the respiratory tract, and in the blood vessels, smooth muscle is controlled by the autonomic nervous system
6. in skeletal muscle a nerve impulse causes the muscle to contract, the muscle then pulls on the tendon, the tendon then pulls on the bone causing movement
7. sprain = ligament damage, strain = muscle or tendon damage, fracture = break or chip in bone
8. epidermis, the most superficial layer and the dermis is the deep layer and is where the blood vessels and nerves are found, as well as the integumentary glands and hair follicles

10. perspiration allows for evaporation thus pulling heat away from/cooling the body
11. protection (a physical barrier, a chemical barrier, a biological barrier), provides for the creation of vitamin D, and provides for sensory stimuli (touch, temp, and pressure)
