Hello,
23-7*x -7*3 + 5x = 10
23 -7x - 21 + 5x = 10
2 -2x = 10
Subtract 2 from both sides -2x = 8 divide by -2 giving us x = -4.

Now check: 23 -7*(-4+3) + 5*(-4) = 10
23 +7 - 20 = 10
10 = 10
