Well, due to the fact that funds for education are declining, I have to disagree.
I believe that what's causing an increase in liberals is the thought that their own being is greater than a group, it's those kinds of opinions that are spreading like a disease. Second to that it's the concept of everything being a right.

Absolutely. Education and a desire for the truth. Just like how Conservatism is a disease caused by ignorance and a dis-taste for the truth. Have you ever had a rational discussion about issues with a Con? Me neither. You can't bring up facts and evidence around a Con.

Liberalism is a once honorable endeavor that has been smeared and tarnished by the narrow minded and mean spirited right wing conservatives. The same group of "compassionate conservatives" who feel it is better to give billions in war profiteering to Haliburten an the like, than to provide health care for the maimed and injured soldiers returning from the war in Iraq. The same group again that think we should give tax breaks to the rich, to spur the economy, instead of making them work for a living like the rest of us. They own the companies, let then sell something at a profit if they need money, instead of being on welfare for the rich, and hoping they will then invest in the economy.

Wow.
I never would have considered education an infectious vector. Man, no wonder I'm a liberal, my parents taught me to read at an early age, and provided me with all sorts of educational and intelligent learning material.
Last I heard, memes never made anybody sick. Though they sure propigate themselves more surely than viruses, I mean, take this oft repeated one "liberalism is a disease..."

It seems like it is caused by a good childhood as well. While abuse and ignorance causes Right Wing Authoritarian (RWA) pathology. Education has been shown to directly cause a lower RWA score in extensive research.
Since a high RWA score is linked to many dysfunctional traits and a low RWA score to the lack of them it is the High RWA that is considered dangerous and dysfunctional.
Extensive research has shown that RWA's
* Make many incorrect inferences from evidence.
* Hold contradictory ideas leading them to appear hypocritical
* Uncritically accept that many problems are ‘our most serious problem.’
* Uncritically accept insufficient evidence that supports their beliefs.
* Uncritically trust people who tell them what they want to hear.
* Use many double standards in their thinking and judgements
* Be dogmatic.
* Be zealots.
* Be hypocrites.
* Be absolutists
* Be bullies when they have power over others.
* Help cause and inflame intergroup conflict.
* Seek dominance over others by being competitive and destructive in situations requiring cooperation.
* Believe they have no personal failings.
* Avoid learning about their personal failings.
* Be highly self-righteous.
* Use religion to erase guilt over their acts and to maintain their self-righteousness.
RWA’s are more likely to:
* Weaken constitutional guarantees of liberty, such as the Bill of Rights.
* Accept unfair and illegal abuses of power by government authorities.
* Trust leaders (such as Bush) who are untrustworthy.
* Sometimes join left-wing movements, where their hostility distinguishes them (Loose change, Farrakhan, LeRouche) .
* But much more typically endorse right-wing political parties.
* Be conservative/Reform party (Canada) or Republican Party (United States) lawmakers who
1. have a conservative economic philosophy;
2. believe in social dominance;
3. are ethnocentric;
4. are highly nationalistic;
5. oppose abortion;
6. support capital punishment;
7. oppose gun-control legislation;
8. say they value freedom but actually want to undermine the Bill of Rights;
9. do not value equality very highly and oppose measures to increase it;
10. are not likely to rise in the Democratic party, but do so among Republicans.
What is a real Horror is that people like James Dobson actually recommend Child Torture (claiming it is not abuse) in ways that increase RWA pathology, approving of that outcome. Likewise the Right attacks all forms of education that enable people to actually realize what these sick puppies are upto.

Liberalism is not a disease, although I'd say many educated and distinguished people are liberal. Connection? Maybe.
