My hobby is beading, but I'm still a beginner. What are eye pins for? I still haven't figured it out yet.

Eye pins are used when you will connect things on both sides of the bead or beads. If you just want a dangle, a head pin is normally used.

And eye pin may be used when the inside of a bead is rough and might cut thread.

For a bracelet, beads on separate eye pins would be more flexible than one strung on tiger-tail.

Eye Pins

Premade, purchased, eye pins are each just a short length of wire with a loop at one end.
They're mostly used to connect the piece they're attached to to another piece, especially if one wants it to dangle --or at least the connection not to be stiff.

We often embed the straight end of an eye pin (often cut off so it's shorter) into a polymer clay object, then connect another eye pin or a jumpring or an earring loop, etc., to the eyepin's loop after baking the clay.

Or when beads have a hole all the way through, an eye pin can be stuck through the hole, then another loop is made (by hand) in the part that's sticking out the other end of the bead... that way, there will be a "connector" loop at each end of the bead.

You might want to check out some of the info and websites about eye pins and head pins, etc., on these pages at my site too:

(... click on *Full Loops*, under Loops & Holes)

Eye pins are very versatile so I'm sure you'll learn to use them a lot, or to make your own to use a lot!

I'd use pins like that for earrings. Perhaps, specifically, if I want a little dangle to hang from the bottom of a string of beads.

Kind of like these,

. No, that is not my shop.
