I come from a Jewish family, and wish to give my child a Hebrew name, after my deceased Great Grandmother. The name is Mikele, and I've been debating using it. What do you think of it?

Just a few additional details,
This would be used for a baby girl only.
I've always pronounced this name like Mi-kel-eh and I'd prefer to use the name in it's entirety, though for short I may occasionally use Kel.

Different and nice. Your baby will have a beautiful name in remembrance of her great great grandmother and it isn't old fashion. =)

I'm Jewish too! I think it kind of depends. You can always alter the names from the original. Is this for a Hewbrew name or a regular name? My great-grandfather's Hebrew name was Ari (meaning lion I think) and my mother changed it to Ariel, the female version. Since the name is Mikele, I might change it a little.

I like the different spelling. Is it pronounced Michael? I think you should drop the e at the end. For a boy right? It wouldn't be right for a girl. Otherwise, I love it!

I think it's a nice way of honoring your ancestor. Unfortunately, in your child's generation she'd just be confused with another Mikayla/Mikailah/Mykayla and its various other misspellings.

I hate having to spell a name out for someone because its a weird spelling. Remember this kid will have to spell their name for people for the rest of their life.
