What is the name of this spider? (scientific or common)?

the spider that is the 3rd from the left. apparently quite common in small towns in TX

could be a Micrathena or a Gasteracantha both occur in southern US in tropical areas. Usually found in the middle of an orb web.

you mean the spiky one in the middle? looks like a Gasteracantha of some sort.
