You should try to get into the performing arts high school.

Other than that, you are lucky enough to live in the best possible place to find acting, voice, and dance lessons. After you get more experience, you also happen to live where most fashion modeling work is done, most of the print advertising and television commercials are done, half of the soap operas and all of Broadway are. Many movies are filmed there, too, which opens the possibility of working as an extra.

There are also a lot of agents. But also tons and tons of people who want to be represented by those agents. The agents can pick and choose from among some of the most talented people in the entire world. You will need training and experience to compete with the others.

If you just want to model, all you have to do is have the right physical structure (tall, thin, nice planes to your face) and some decent photographs of yourself to send to the modeling agencies. Again, you're fortunate enough to live in New York already, so it's easier and less expensive for you to do these things.

I don't live in the US, but I thought maybe sharing the experience as to how I got my agent may help! I was lucky enough to find two agencies holding open auditions in London for new faces, wanting a résumé and audition. My résumé wasn't impressive to say the least, but both auditions went fairly well and I managed to get accepted into a place in both of them. They were both legitimate agencies and the agent I am with now has consistently worked on getting me work! If your résumé isn't impressive, perhaps it's best to try and gain as much training (take acting courses) and experience in various productions as you can. While doing that, if a legitimate agency (remember, and agency should NOT charge you money to join them; they make money off of the money YOU make!) is holding open auditions, try it out! Until then, just carry on getting experience and eventually apply to an agency. Good luck!

Parroting other actors you've seen do a role is the polar opposite of what acting is. You have to create the character yourself. You're not ready to seek an agent. You need to learn what the craft and business are all about first. And people who have been at it for longer than you have been alive don't consider themselves
"impecable." No true artist EVER does. Take some pro level classes and get your ego in check.

I think you are a daydreamer. Do you know your parents' have to consent to anything professional that you do until you are 18? What roles in what plays have you done, Miss Impeccable? An agent is not a magician who can turn a starry-eyed wannabe with no experience and no training into an actor, that is not what agents do. Until you have a lot of experience and training as an actor, no agent is going to even look at you. Takes years to become an actress.

Perform so the agent can see. If you don't tell him or her, you are performing, how can the agent see you on stage. Use your brain!
