I think it's pretty impressive as is. So why think there has to be more. What has happened to cause life is amazing, all the random occurances to create everything up to us. It just doesn't get more amazing than that. What do you fiends want?

I'm with you. Life is magical and amazing and the people
that can't see it are usually incredibly lacking in self
initiation. They just take life as it's presented and think
that's it. They either haven't had any inspiration in their
life to open up their minds and hearts...or they were
just born into dull, passive families or have that kind
of insecure personality. These people can't see that
there are a million ways to make life wonderful..they
do have to participate in it however and learn to recognize the beautiful moments that make it
all worthwhile. These people should seek out a
mentor that can help them grow and teach them
about joy...what it is and how to sustain it.

I think it's because people have come to believe that "life" is about human constructed things. So there is the sense that there can always be something bigger or better or faster or sexier or whateverer. If you can get to the point where life is not about "things" you start to see how amazing it all is. And I don't think that amazement ever wears off. After all, no two days are the same, something new comes your way all the time. And, as I always say, you're going to be dead a whole lot longer than you're alive.

I think that the need for purpose and meaning is pretty well ingrained into our human nature. We need to know that our lives are worth living.

"There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. Deciding whether or not life is worth living is to answer the fundamental question in philosophy. All other questions follow from that." (Camus -1942)

I'm amazed at natural things also but what do you do after the amazement wears off? What is there about being amazed that makes life worth living?

Very good question and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I mean nature is awesome, the people you meet and how they touch your life are amazing, music and art is precious. I could go on for days, but you're absolutely correct. People seem to be discontent and they search for more and they don't appreciate all the wonders that are right in front of them!!!!!!!

I WANT ALL THE TEA
THAT'S RIGHT ALL OF IT

No, seriously, though, those people are missing something in their life that isn't being fulfilled. My personal fulfillment is music, one of the greatest gifts we've been given (and one that is squandered more every year)

often people want a purpose to their life...something to achieve...something to do....but they need a reason to do it. so a purpose to life gives them a reason.
