The Wii is more of a fun and family oriented video game console for all ages, and is just as good as the other consoles like the XBox360 and PS3.
But the Wii is incredibly cheeper than the XBox360 and PS3, because the XBox360 and PS3 are really expensive.
Wii's cost $249.99; but you have to find one which is the hard part. It's because they're still selling rapidly before they get on the shelves. Plus with the not enough suply and demand; Nintendo is still trying to manufacture and produce Wii's.
So you have to call up stores and ask when they get new shipments of Wii's. And you also got to arrive at the stores early in order to get one.
So its best if you try to buy one off of the internet, like trusted sites like Amazon.com or bidding on one from EBay. You also got to remember that they can sell for very high prices; because they are very popular.
I got my Wii for Christmas last year, and my mom got it from EBay; it was for $400. And there are also those who were lucky to get Wii's on launch day of November 19, 2006.
And I would highly suggest a Wii over the XBox360 and PS3 because of the games.
The Wii has a bunch of good hardcore first party Nintendo games that you and the family can enjoy. Highly reccommended games are:
Zelda Twilight Princess
Super Paper Mario
Mario Party 8
Pokemon Battle Revolution
and upcomming games like:
Super Mario Galaxy (comes out November 12, 2007)
and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (which was delayed to Febuary 10, 2008.
Like I said before, the Wii is a fun system because of it's family fun games; compared to all of those violent games on the XBox360 and PS3; which think they're all that with their pretty high def graphics.
Pretty graphics and lots of gore don't matter when it comes to gameplay. Gameplay is what counts when it come to video games; because it's all about fun.
Plus the Wii's going to be just as great in the following years; so your kids will eventually love it!

I could be off, but it seems to me that either a) on some subconcious level you feel that his interest in the potential gaming console is competing with his interest in the coming baby, or b) you think that gaming is a sign of immaturity that has you worried over his ability to be a good parent. Or could be a bit of both.
In either case, I don't think you need to worry. If it's "case a," it is entirely possible for someone to look forward to multiple things without losing enthusiasm for either one. If it's "case b," gaming is NOT a sign of immaturity, as several people have already pointed out. If he's able to manage his time well he can be a good husband, father, and have a little free time to play games. It'll only be a problem if he becomes addicted.
And if you end up getting the system, why don't you try playing with him occasionally? Who knows, you might have fun too! Could be a good bonding experience :)

There is no connection between being a grown up and playing video games.
Being a grown up doesn't mean he/she can't have fun. In the ancient times, having fun was probably talking with friends. Not too long ago, having fun was probably watching TVs and movies. Now, in the modern times, having fun includes all of the above and playing games as well. In the future, having fun may be flying to space. Who knows?
Being an adult has nothing to do with hobbies. Being an adult means he/she can make wise decisions and take significant responsibilities.

well, this question shouldn't be in this category, this is more about your fiancee's imaturity than the wii. The answer to that question is no, because as a man, i can assure you we never grow up and don't intend to. Also, don't get him a Wii, you'll never be able to talk to him ever again.

Just because he wants a Wii, doesn't mean he's not mature.
Wii's are for everyone, age 10-100. So don't get angry. He will be a good dad

Maturity of a person can not be scaled because they have or wants some video games or console. Lot's of couples that i know owned lots of video games... it doesn't mean that they are immature or irresponsible, they just love to have fun... I think if your fiance wants it because it can makes him happy, then why not ?...

ROTFL The question is "Will he ever grow up"? Um, no. Don't get him one. But Wiis still pwn.
The real question is, "Why the heck are you pregnant if the guy is only your fiancee?"
