Yes! My rabbit has one as do my dogs. I volunteer at the animal shelter which chips every dog and cat that is adopted out. I have seen the benefits of microchipping first hand. Every animal that comes in is scanned. If it's microchipped, the owner is called immediately and notified that their dog has come in. This makes things less stressful for the animal and decreases the number of animals present in the shelter.
Many people say that their animals would never run away, but what if they were stolen? Microchips are a form of permanent identification.
Also, the needle is big, the chip is the size of a grain of rice, but most pets don't really notice. I've seen enough first hand to be able to tell you that the owner experiences more pain watching than the pet does during the injection.

I have 3 dogs and 1 of my dogs is microchipped. I adopted her from a local shelter and they always microchip them before letting them be adopted. I have no problem with it. There was a recent study saying the microchip can cause a tumor to form; however, that is within about 20 years and the majority of dogs and cats do not live that long so I don't think it's anything to worry about.
I will most likely be getting my other 2 dogs microchipped also. Oh and they all still wear their ID tags even if they are microchipped.

Yes- in all three cats and one dog.
LOVE IT!
I live in a coastal area-- the thought of a hurricane ripping off my roof and my cats or dog being lost from me scares me to death ( keep in mind- in this scenario i'm not evacuating and staying in the house with the pets) Also, collars can come off or be taken off- microchip never leaves your pet.
The microchip is a proof of ownership as well as permanent ID. I recommend it be implanted during spay/neuter while pet is under anesthesia. It is a HUGE needle, but many pets not under anesthesia have had the chip implanted and not even cried out.

Both of our dogs are microchipped, but not our cat. The dogs weren't bothered by it and it didn't cost us very much money to do it. It was very worth it! One of our dogs got out of our fully fenced yard and went missing for months. Even with driving all over town and posting lost posters, putting lost ads in the paper, and a notice at the humane society we couldn't find her. Later we found out a man found her and took her to his home many towns away, even though she had a collar and I.D. tag, and only by luck did she get loose and a good samaritans took her to a vet nextdoor to where they found her, and they scanned her and we got her back. The man had the nerve to track her to the vet and still try and take her even though he knew we had been notified, but because she was microchipped and licensed they knew who her real family was. We were very very happy and so glad we got her microchipped. The only reason our cat isn't microchipped is because she is an indoor cat and isn't interested in straying outdoors.

Yes!! Our older dog has it and our puppy is getting it next month. One of the most important things you can do for your dog (just make sure you keep your info. up to date with the microchip company and your vet). We were in AZ on vacation and got a call from the company b/c our dog had gotten out. Think of what would have happened if she didn't have her microchip. We'd have come back devastated!

I have one in my dog. It was put in when she was a pup and has never caused her any irritation or discomfort. It did migrate from on top of her shoulder blades to her chest, which is a little weird, but happens I'm told. The chip will expedite your reunion with your pet if Fluffy gets lost and can save you from having to pay for a second rabies shot when animal control picks her up.

Yes...all 5 of my bunnies have chips.
They're definitely NOT outdoor rabbits but I'm paranoid about things like fire or a tornado. Anything that would cause us to have to evacuate the house in a rush without the carriers.
All of our local vets as well as the human societies scan every animal that comes in.

I do not have a microchipped pet but would certainly do it if I were to get a dog. I have heard nothing but good things about them and the animals they have saved.

All of them are chipped. Most of them were done when they were under anesthetic being spayed or neutered. I love the chips. I guess it gives me a feeling of comfort. It is also proof of ownership for me if someone steals my pet. The chip has not replaced id tags though. My pets still wear their tags.

yes, we had some people who threatened to steal our dogs, so with a microchip if they were taken to a vet and scanned we had a better chance of getting them back, plus if they ever got out there is a better chance of them being returned to you
